1. NABOISHO WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY AND EAGLE VIEW CAMP, GREATER MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

Where: Naboisho Wildlife Conservancy and Eagle View Camp, Greater Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Dates: 25-27 September (2 nights, 3 days)

About: Join us on this unique, never done before (at an IFLA Annual Conference) safari trip to a climate friendly and resilient, 100% indigenous (Maasai) owned wildlife conservancy (Naboisho) which is adjacent to one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World – Maasai Mara Game Reserve. This 3-day, 2-night trip will be led by Kenyan Hitesh Mehta FAAK FASLA FRIBA, widely considered as one of the topmost Protected Area Master Planners in the world and who is also the creator of the Naboisho Conservancy Integrated Ecotourism, Biodiversity and Pastolarism Master Plan.
The accommodation (Eagle View Camp) will be a quintessential tented camp located strategically within the conservancy and with some of the most stunning views in the region! Enjoy breakfast and lunch overlooking the savannah woodland plains below, a natural salt lick and a watering hole all providing a common hunting site for predators and unique game viewing perspectives. Hitesh’s firm HM Design was the planning and design team leader and Landscape Architect for this award-winning ecolodge which is the ONLY landscape project in Africa that has been certified as an exemplary Case Study in the Landscape Performance Series of the Landscape Architects Foundation (LAF), USA.

Game drives and cultural landscape walks with the Maasai, sundowners, BBQ under the stars and visits to a local community project will be mixed with in-depth presentations on the all-inclusive Master Planning and Landscape Design, showcasing the convergence of landscape architecture and conservation. And you will also have delivery of a special presentation on Cultural Landscape Preservation by none other than Patricia O’Donnell, FASLA AICP, Fellow USICOMOS, Founding Partner of Heritage Landscapes which was awarded the Firm of the Year, 2019 by ASLA.

There is a limited capacity of 24 persons (12 tents) and the Camp Operator – Basecamp Foundation has been kind to extend discounted Kenya Resident rates to all participants! Conservation fees are different for international and residents. We are expecting this one-of-a-kind trip to fill up fast so the sooner you can confirm the better. For the first ten participants, there will be a very special prize – an ‘Out of Africa’ spiritual night in nature, where the camp manager will put up five dome tents at a secluded location far from Eagle View Camp on the first night with each tent accommodating 2 people. This will be a night you will never forget!
