Nairobi Safari Walk: “The Closest you can get to the Wild”
With its raised wooden boardwalk that allows for uninterrupted views of the animals, the Safari Walk is a show case for Kenya’s Parks and Reserves, allowing visitors to discover what they can expect to see across the country. Visitors can see a sample of the country’s rich animal life including the rare bongo, white rhino and albino zebra as well as big cats, antelopes and primates. It is also home to some 150 species of local trees.

Kibera Public Space: Kounkuey Design Initiative (KDI) is improving quality of life in one of the world’s largest informal settlements through the Kibera Public Space Project (KPSP), a network of community-managed public spaces that reduce flood risk while providing access to core services and creating new business opportunities.
Each space created by KDI is designed to meet the specific needs of residents and combines river remediation and sustainable drainage infrastructure with community buildings, space for small businesses and recreation, and sanitation and laundry facilities.

Karura Forest: The Karura Forest Reserve is an urban upland forest on the outskirts of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. This remarkable geographical location and natural resource is one of the largest gazetted forests in the world fully within a city limits. It covers an area of about 1,000 ha (2,500 acres) and today is a shining example of how country-based corporate social responsibility and individual philanthropy can serve to secure and protect a country’s natural resources. The forest offers eco-friendly opportunities for Kenyans and visitors to enjoy a leafy green respite from the hustle and bustle of the city to walk, to jog, or simply to sit quietly and experience the serenity of nature in all its diversity.

Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley with spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa.

Plastic water bottles are not allowed in the park. Please be advised that each participant takes responsibility for their own safety and his/her assessment of hike.

Time: Full day trip

About: The Karura Forest Reserve is an urban upland forest on the outskirts of Nairobi and is one of the largest gazetted forests in the world fully within city limits. The forest is also where the Late Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Wangari Maathai, carried out a much-publicized campaign for saving the forest from developers who tried to grab large portions of the north of the central section of the forest. It covers an area of about 1,000 ha of forest with marshlands that attract bird life including winter migrants from Europe and Asia and serene groves of secondary and primary indigenous trees.

Fairview Coffee Estate Coffee, one of the three most popular beverages in the world is a beverage brewed from the roasted and ground seeds of tropical evergreen coffee plants of African origin. Fairview Coffee Estate is a coffee farm with nearly 100 acres of coffee is situated. With this trip, you will have a walk through the serene farm and have a better understanding of the origin of your cup of coffee.

2. SAFARI WALK WITH FLOWERS

Where: Nairobi National park – Bilashaka Farm

Time: Full day trip

About: Located within the only Wildlife Capital, the Nairobi National Park, the Nairobi Safari walk is a nature trail where visitors enjoy flora and fauna. The Safari Walk is a showcase of Kenya’s Parks and Reserves, allowing visitors to discover what they can expect to see across the country. Visitors can see a sample of the country’s rich animal life including the rare bongo, white rhino and albino zebra as well as big cats, antelopes and primates. It is also home to some 150 species of local trees.

Located near Lake Naivasha, Bilashaka Flower Farm has 48 hectares of greenhouses for flower production.  The tour will take you through the rose growing process and the preparation process of the roses for their journey to Europe (as Kenya is one of the lead exporters of rose cut flowers to Europe). Enjoy a drive down to Naivasha down the rift valley escarpment and get to see where one of the world’s favourite blooms comes from.
